Role Title: Relationship Officer (RO)
Purpose of the role:
To manage an assigned portfolio and achieve set business and profitability targets of the portfolio, through successful delivery of tailor-made financial solutions to customers by leveraging on the institution’s products and services.
Key Responsibilities:
Mobilising stable deposits through the sales of term deposits and the opening of savings accounts of quality.
Creating value for the company by ensuring that the assigned portfolio is always profitable.
Generate and convert the majority of leads (prospects) into highly profitable clients.
Acquire, retain customers, and grow the existing portfolio thereby maximizing value for the institution.
Manage business relationships with customers of the assigned portfolio and those of the institution (where applicable).
Identify business opportunities to be able to bring in new customers and to effectively cross-sell products to new and existing customers.
Maintain and build a portfolio of clients with an acceptable risk/ reward ratio.
Ensure that close customer attention is given to provide a full array of financial solutions and services tailored to meet the growing financial needs and potential of the portfolio.
Work closely with all stakeholders to ensure seamless service is offered to the customers of the portfolio.
Constantly developing the relationship with existing customers to ensure the profitability of the assigned portfolio.
Actively participating in sales and sales planning meetings at the branch to develop action plans to meet sales target.
Minimum Experience and Qualifications:
Minimum of 3 years experience in a relationship management position preferably with a banking or a category 2 microfinance institution.
Experience in preparing and processing retail lending propositions.
Skills, Capabilities and Personal Attributes:
Sound knowledge of general microfinance and banking law and practices.
Attention to detail - accurately checking and processing tasks and showing concern for all aspects of the role.
Knowledge:
Understanding of banking and financial industry principles and regulations.
